There are 2.5 billion players worldwide, a population of all ethnic groups and all ages (especially in mobile gaming, the largest market segment). Quartz noticed that in less than ten years, “57 percent of U.S. video gamers between the ages of 6 to 29 will be people of color.”
Black and Hispanic youth in the United States spend on both mobile and console games more time per day than white youth on average. There are very few games focused on characters like them for the hundreds of millions of people around the world, particularly in demographic products that are driving the industry to rapid growth. This is also a missed opportunity for business.
